A bleak and snowy morning welcomed the karters for round 2 of the winter series at Ellough Park Raceway but this didn't dampen the spirits and there was plenty of good racing to keep the spectators warm.

CADETS

Peter Hargreaves had looked unbeatable in the heats but didn't have it all his own way in the final as Craig Boyd and Elliot Hill made hard work of it for him, Boyd taking the lead and only losing out on the penultimate lap. Hill (1st restricted) came home 3rd, Jordon Kendal 4th, Jordon Coulson 5th after a great tussle with Nick Wones 6th.

JUNIORS

With all the Jnrs running together it was intermediate Chris Lock who led from lights to flag for a very comfortable win, Chris Pengelly came home 2nd to win the Jnr TKM, B Conner (Jnr TKM) 3rd and Reece Broady (intermediate) 4th.

GEARBOX

Greg Tripp (125 Open) had shown great starting all day so it was no surprise when he shot into the lead from the standing start ahead of Richard Weavers (125 Open) and the 250 International of Simon Patterson in his first outing since moving up from pro karts. It was nip and tuck between Tripp and Weavers for most of the race until a few laps from the end when Tripp opened up a gap to win comfortably. Weavers came 2nd with Patterson showing good signs of improvement 3rd.

ROTAX MAX, 100C, SNR TKM

A big grid of Rotaxs couldn't do anything about Richard Lock as he stormed away with the heats but in the final his brother David Lock and Kevin Bishop made a real fight of it as they battled to stop him pulling away. Bishop finally got the better of David Lock to take second but couldn't do anything about Richard who drove an excellent race to take the honors. Nick Gill came home 4th (1st restricted), Jason Fowler 5th, William Albrow (2nd restricted) rounded out the top 6.

Graham  Salmon
