CLUB MEETING 30th May 2005

The second round of the 2005 Summer championships was held at Ellough on 30th May.

COMER / WTP CADET

An excellent field of ten karts began the cadet final on a drying track. Thomas Stanway starting from pole position ahead of Sam Blake and Oliver Hindle. Thomas immediately gaining an advantage coming out of the first corner as the chasing group fought over second place. At the end of the first lap, Sam had reduced the gap to Thomas to half a kart length, Oliver two metres back in third place. Further back, Andrew Moore, Oscar Moore and Craig Pollard were battling it out for the lower places. Lap three saw Oscar slip past Craig for fifth spot. Consistent driving from Thomas kept Sam in second place for the next seven laps until lap ten when Sam making Thomas go off line, slipped through in to first place. Thomas quickly picked up the pace and within two laps had retaken the lead. With only two laps to go, Thomas kept his kart on the racing line giving Sam no chance to overtake. At the flag, first place for Thomas Stanway, ahead of Sam Blake in 2nd. Coming home in 3rd was Oliver Hindle just in front of Craig Pollard in 4th. Good driving from Oscar Moore claiming 5th position, Teddie Harvey finishing in 6th place.

HONDA CADET

Mathew Cochrane finished off a good days racing by taking 1st place ahead of Toby Reynolds in 2nd spot. Gordon Smith coming home in 3rd place. 

MINI-MAX

Alex Widdrington starting from pole, led from start to finish in the final, showing more than enough skill to outclass the rest of the field. Simon Harris finishing in 2nd place, ahead of Karl Cocca in 3rd. Karl also finishing as 1st restricted driver.

JUNIOR TKM

James Harber took the win in the Junior TKM class.  

JUNIOR ROTAX MAX

Bradley Smith starting on pole, led away from the lights with Luke Branch and Nicholas Wones on his tail battling for second position. Nicholas coming out on top by the end of the first lap a few metres behind Bradley. Daniel Fisher moved past Peter Masters on lap two in to fourth place. Problems for Daniel on lap six moved Peter back up to fourth with James Lincoln in fifth. Ben Hughes and Jake Baker keeping on the back end of the leading group. For the remaining laps, Bradley continued to open out his lead, taking a well deserved win over Nicholas Wones in 2nd. Luke Branch finishing close behind in 3rd spot. Peter Masters taking 4th place just ahead of James Lincoln in 5th. Jake Baker coming home in 6th. Kerry Taylor in her first drive at Beccles finishing in 8th place overall and as 1st restricted driver.    

SENIOR ROTAX MAX

Liam Lambert starting from pole led Ray Lincoln and Phil McLintic round the first corner of the final. The chasing group quickly settled in behind the leading trio. By the end of lap one, Phil had moved in to second place and Leyton Nisbett up in to fourth. Andy Horne and Ashley Beales contesting fifth place. Lap four and with Phil pulling out of the race with mechanical problems, Ray moved up to second. An excellent overtake from Ashley promoted him to third, dropping Leyton down to fourth. Andy Horne continued to keep pace with the leaders and received his reward by slipping past Leyton for fourth spot on lap ten. At the chequered flag, an easy win for Liam with Ray Lincoln coming home in 2nd place. Ashley Beales in 3rd ahead of Andy Horne in 4th. Mathew Sampson picked up a couple of places late in the race to finish in 5th ahead of Paul Canning in 6th. Darren Whitmarsh in 9th overall and as the 1st restricted driver.

SENIOR ROTAX MAX 177

Thirteen karts started the Rotax 177 final, led off by Mel Cooke ahead of Nicholas Black Cavin Doyle. A coming together on lap three between Mel and Nicholas allowed Wayne Vickory through in to first, Michael Webb up to second and Ian Bedson up to third. Ian Harvey and Pip Lawn having a good contest for fourth over the next few laps, Ian eventually winning this battle. Simon Hopkins, also overtook Pip on lap thirteen for fourth spot. At the flag, a win for Wayne Vickory, with Michael Webb in 2nd place. Ian Bedson coming home in 3rd, ahead of Simon Hopkins in 4th. Pip Lawn finishing in 5th just ahead of Mark Bowen in 6th.
