CLUB MEETING 29th SEPTEMBER 2001

CADET
Luke Branch got the jump in the final leading for the first 3 laps before Nick Wones found a gap and squeezed through into the lead, this didn't last too long however as Rupert Svensden-Cook got passed him in his Honda Cadet. Wones kept pace with Svensden-Cook all the way to the flag but knowing he was in a different class didn't try anything too rash to pass as he came home to win the cadet class, Craig Boyd came home 2nd, Jack Delaney 3rd, Krishan Padhiar 4th, Elliot Hill 5th and Kieran Smith rounded out the top 6. Thomas Fitzpatrick was 1st restricted in 8th.

JUNIOR TKM
Chris Pengelly again dominated this class taking the win in the final by a country mile but behind him Danny Fiske and G. Freeman were having a tremendous battle for 2nd. Fiske finally got the better of Freeman after they had been side by side for much of the final lap to take 2nd, Freeman 3rd was followed home by Dean Hill 4th, Matt Skilton 5th and Peter Hargreaves 6th.Matt Drew was 1st restricted driver home in 7th.

JUNIOR TKM INTERMEDIATES
Light drizzle and a very slippery surface took its toll at the start when Ruth Senior, Ben Tyler, Shaun Lehan and Dan Bramham all spun on the 2nd corner, this left James Blyth in the lead ahead of the only Jnr Rotax runner Niraj Gorshia, Reece Broady and Joe Scorey. On lap 3 Scorey got a puncture which ended his chances of winning and on lap 6 Gorshia finally got past into the lead. At the flag it was Gorshia who held on for the win with Blyth right behind taking the TKM win, Reece Broady 2nd, Ruth Senior having driven a brilliant race after her early spin 3rd, Ben Tyler 4th (1st Restricted), Shaun Lehan 5th and Dan Bramham 6th (2nd Restricted).

ROTAX MAX
Yet again the weather took its toll on a large grid of karts as they spun off left right and centre on lap 1, the notable spinner was Kevin Bishop who had been on pole and was looking good for the win. Gordon Chenery took full advantage of Bishop's spin to race into the lead and pull out a very comfortable margin over Wayne Close and Jason Fowler. The man on the move however was Bishop who carved his way through the field from 14th to 6th by lap 8 and by lap 10 he was 3rd but the full length of the straight behind Close in 2nd. Chenery held on to take a comfortable win with Close hanging on to 2nd by a single kart length at the flag from Bishop, Jason Fowler came 4th, P. Worley 5th and Adam Baker rounded off the top 6.

SNR 100 NATIONAL & TKM
Once again it was James Clutten who took the honours in the 100 National class easing away from Paul Steady for nearly all of the 14 lap final who in turn had a comfortable gap back to Simon Bowen who despite giving it his all just couldn't quite manage to close the gap, D. Pennell came home a distant 4th  In the TKM it was Richard Sewell who took the honours with Steven Griffiths 2nd and Nathen Roberts 3rd.

GEARBOX
Darren Patterson (250 International) led them away in the gearbox final closely followed by Richard Weavers, Greg Tripp, Ian Melton, Howard Bennett (all 125 Open) and Jonathon Weavers (125 National). Patterson spun on lap 6 and continued albeit in 6th place, this allowed Tripp to slide passed Weavers into the lead. Weavers then lost 2nd place to Melton on lap 12. Tripp held on to secure the win with Melton 2nd, Richard Weavers 3rd, Howard Bennett 4th, Patterson 5th and Jonathon Weavers 6th having crossed the line backwards after a spin in paddock corner.

Graham Salmon
