BECCLES & DISTRICT KART CLUB

CLUB MEETING 29th August 2005

The fifth round of the 2005 Summer Championships was held at Ellough on 29th August.

COMER / WTP CADET

In hot, sunny conditions, Sam Blake led off a good field of karts in the cadet final. Three heat wins put him on pole ahead of Oliver Hindle and Thomas Stanway. No problems round the first bend allowed Thomas to slip in behind Sam. Oliver dropping back down the order to fourth place with Craig Pollard up into third. Fifth place was a battle between Curtis Ayres, Jake Wenham and Michael Headland. By lap three, Oliver had regained second place, overtaking Craig and Thomas. Further down the field, three restricted drivers were having their own little fight for ninth place, Kasia Nicklin, Harry Bush and Kirsty all driving with exception skill. Curtis Ayres briefly held fifth position in the middle part of the race, but good work from Michael over the last few laps saw him finish ahead of Curtis. At the front, Sam had increased the gap to Oliver by several metres, a lead that he held to take the win. At the flag, a well deserved first place for Sam Blake,   ahead of Oliver Hindle in 2nd. Finishing in 3rd was Craig Pollard. Craig also received the marshal’s driver of the day trophy and a framed photo of the Air Ambulance that took him to hospital last meeting. Thomas Stanway finished in 3rd spot ahead of Michael Headland in 5th. Good driving over the last third of the race brought Jake Wenham up into 6th place. The 1st restricted trophy going to Kasia Nicklin, finishing in 9th position overall.

HONDA CADET

Matthew Cochrane’s two heat wins and a second put him on pole position for the final. Going straight into the lead from the green light, Matthew always kept a few metres ahead of second place Toby Reynolds. With both drivers finding no trouble getting through the lower order of Comer cadets, Matthew kept the advantage to the flag. Toby Reynolds finishing in 2nd place ahead of Lewis Bond in 3rd. Kieron Bker coming home in 4th ahead of Louise Ashton in 5th.
