CADET
After 2 wins and a 2nd in the heats Chris Pengelly eased away for a
comfortable victory over 12 laps in the final, Daniel Fiske followed home
2nd with Robert Debbage 3rd. A fine drive through the field after a first
lap incident which left him dead last saw Daniel Tuffs secure a worthy 4th.
JUNIORS
Ryan Bensley romped away with the final for the juniors after early leader
Joe Scorey suffered minor mechanical problems, Scorey managed a great
rearguard action to hold off a very determined challenge from Simon Bowen,
Jamie English 4th and Nino Picolli saw out the top 5. Clark Randall drove a
flawless race to take the junior Yamaha class
SENIOR TKM
After a clean sweep of the heats Chris Petto came under sustained pressure
from David Lock in the final until Locks engine cut out 4 laps from home
handing Petto a comfortable victory. Glen Denny took advantage to come home
2nd ahead of local driver Lloyd Scriven who took 3rd.
SENIOR 100C/B
This was anyone's race after having 3 different heat winners, James Clutten
led them away but after 4 laps he retired onto the infield with engine
problems. This left the way clear for Nick Black to come through and make it
4 different winners on the day, Mark Bartholomew came home a very good 2nd
with Paul Steady 3rd, Steve Campbell 4th but winning the B class and Jason
Baker 5th.
ROTAX MAX
After 2 wins and a 3rd in the heats Mike Phipps took pole for the final and
had a great dice with Lewis Richards which saw the lead change several times
before Phipps broke clear. Richard Lock passed Richards who was suffering
with a misfire before managing to get the better of Phipps to race away with
a surprise victory. Phipps came home 2nd with Lewis Richards 3rd, Steve
Newsham 4th and Darren Masters 5th.
125 GEARBOX
With the Grand Prix only a week away there was a small turn out of gearbox
karts and after a crash at the end of the final heat only the kart of Ewan
McIntyre was fit to start the final. this was a shame as the heats had seen
some close racing with McIntyre and Richard Weavers often swapping positions
at the front.
