Meeting dated 28th August 2000
A sunny day greeted the largest entry at Beccles and District Kart club
since the eighties as over 60 drivers lined up for the clubs second meeting
on the new Ellough Park Raceway.
CADETS
After a clean sweep of the heats Chris Pengally had his work cut out in the
final keeping a very determined Daniel Fiske at bay, although he managed to
hang on to a well deserved victory. Fiske was well clear in second with Gary
Findlay 3rd, Dean Hill 4th and S.Smithson 5th.
1st restricted went to Jordon Kendal and 2nd restricted Jordon Coulson.
JUNIORS
After running the heats together the finals were split with junior TKM
having theirs first.
Randell Lynn wasted no time in this final pulling away to win by a clear
margin from a very determined Ben Russell who got the better of Chris Lock
with 2 laps remaining, Ryan Bensley 4th (1st restricted), Jamie English 5th.
The Yamahas and Intermediates went out together next and as in 2 of the
heats Joe Scorey went off at a blistering pace leaving Nino Piccoli and Adam
Slater for dead although easing off they slowly dragged him back in only to
run out of laps, Piccoli holding on to 2nd from Slater 3rd
The Yamahas had a very close race and although trying every move possible
James Blyth just couldnt find his way past Clark Randall in the 12 laps
although getting along side on several occasions
SENIOR TKM
Lloyd scriven just proved invincible winning all 3 heats and the final by a
good distance. Richard Lloyd held second for a while before a great move
down the inside at the end of the straight by David Lock saw him take that
place away and hold it to the flag, Lloyd held on to 3rd and Matthew Allison
came home in 4th.
SENIOR100C
After different winners in each heat the final was anybodys' and after a
great start by Paul Steady it looked like a comfortable victory until a
puncture prematurely ended his race.
James Clutten took full advantage of this to hold off determined challenges
from both Carl Hunnibell and Jason Baker to take the win. Paul Flude took
4th and Steve Campbell 5th.
ROTAX MAX
Lewis Richards and Richard Lock took no time in breaking away from the field
in the final and soon had a huge lead, on the 11th lap they came up to a
back marker and on seeing the blue flag inadvertently pulled across in front
of Richards and this gave Lock the chance he needed to get past for a
valuable win. Richards managed to keep going and held onto second ahead of
Steve Newsham, Steve Cane 4th and Kevin Bishop 5th.
Nick Gill took first restricted and Simon Badcock 2nd.
GEARBOX
The final saw some very close racing as the Nationals of Steve Cross and
Graeme Salt fought for the lead, Graeme Johnson tried his hardest to keep
up but was slowly dropped by the leading pair. At the flag Salt couldn't
quite find a way past and Cross took a very good win, Johnson came home 3rd
and the 1st Open of Jonathon Weavers 4th, 1st 250 National of Bill Smith 5th
and Greg Tripp's Open 6th.
