CLUB MEETING 28th July 2001

CADET

After taking a clean sweep of the heats Jack Delaney started favorite to win the final but Daniel Tuffs had other ideas as he first kept up with the blistering place and then took the lead. Tuffs and Delaney fast opened a comfortable gap back to Elliot Hill and Krishan Padhiar who themselves were having a terrific battle.  Swapping the lead several times Delaney and Tuffs were inseparable as they started their final lap, Tuffs took the upper hand grabbing the lead on the first corner only to lose it on corner 3, this didn’t last long as Tuffs once again regained the lead on the very next corner. Coming into the hairpin Tuffs must have thought he was home and dry but a great dive up the inside saw Delaney come through to take the chequered flag. Tuffs came home 2nd with Padhiar getting the better of Hill to take 3rd, hill 4th, Nick Wones 5th and Jordon Coulson rounding out the top 6. Chris Barnett was 1st restricted in 7th and Paul Reeves 2nd restricted in 9th.

JUNIOR TKM

Chris Pengelly was first to show in the Juniors pulling away from the field very fast, a lead he wasn’t to give up all race as he took the flag well clear of Peter Hargreaves who had won a tremendous battle with both Craig Bell and Dean Hill 3rd and 4th respectfully . Tommy Eustace came in 5th (1st restricted) with Scott Clouting (2nd restricted) rounding out the top 6.

JUNIOR TKM  INTERMEDIATE

Chris Lock took the lead in the final with Joe Scorey 2nd and James Blyth 3rd  in hot pursuit, these 3 pulling away from Ruth Senior, Reece Broady and Shaun Lehan. Scorey found a way past Lock on lap 7 but contact between the pair left Lock off the track struggling to hold things together, he did get back on track but in the mean time most of the field had passed him. Scorey  went on to take a comfortable victory from Blyth 2nd, Senior 3rd, Lock 4th, Wilson 5th and Broady 6th.

ROTAX MAX

Jason Baker and Kevin Bishop had a battle royal in the Rotax final until a back marker blocked Bishop giving Baker the chance to take a 50 yard lead. Bishop wasn’t giving up and by lap11 he had caught back up to Baker and was mounting a challenge when the red flags came out after 100 National driver Simon Bowen had crashed heavily in turn 1. The race wasn’t restarted which left Baker the winner and Bishop 2nd cursing his luck, Paul Steady 3rd, Stuart Weavers 4th, Adam Baker (1st restricted) 5th and Danny Pennell 6th. David Adams was 2nd restricted in 9th.

100 NATIONAL & SNR TKM

James Clutten had an easy victory in the 100 National after the race was stopped due to Simon Bowen crashing very heavily on turn 1, Jason Shorten also had a comfortable victory in the TKM ahead of Andrew Aguda.

GEARBOX

A depleted grid of gearbox karts took to the grid for the final with both Richard Weavers and Greg Tripp unable to participate due to mechanical failure. The 250 international of Darren Patterson had few problems cruising to victory ahead of Jonathon Weavers (125 National) with Howard Bennett (125 open) coming 3rd.
