BECCLES & DISTRICT KART CLUB

CLUB MEETING 28th March 2005

The last round of the 2005 winter championships was held at Ellough on 28th March.

COMER / WTP CADET

Thomas Stanway began the first final of the day on pole after two heat wins and a second.   Craig Pollard starting in second place. A good, clean start with everybody making it round the first bend saw Thomas in the lead, Craig in second with Jake Wenham in third. Just behind, battling for fourth place was Curtis Ayres, Oscar Moore and James Harris. Oliver Hindle, starting from last place on the grid had already moved up to eighth. By the end of lap two, Thomas had opened out a gap to Craig and Jake and with Oscar having problems, this allowed Curtis and James through. Oliver was also closing up in sixth position. Lap five and James, with more confidence every race, slipped past Curtis for fourth place. For the next few laps, the leading trio maintained their positions, with all the action between James, Curtis and Oliver. Changes on lap nine as Craig’s chain came off at the first corner. Oliver finally got the better of James and Curtis, moving into third place and for the next three laps began reducing the gap to Jake. Lap thirteen, Oliver slipped past Jake into second place, Thomas too far ahead to be caught with only one lap to go. On the last lap James getting the better of Curtis for fourth position. At the flag, a well deserved win for Thomas Stanway ahead of Oliver Hindle in 2nd. Jake Wenham coming home in 3rd, with James Harris in 4th. Curtis Ayres finishing in 5th position, Michael Headland in 6th. Oliver Hindle also collecting the marshal’s driver of the day trophy after overcoming difficulties throughout the day and for the overtaking skills shown in the final.
