BECCLES & DISTRICT KART CLUB

CLUB MEETING 27th OCTOBER 2001

Round 8 of the 2001 championship series saw some extremely close racing in the late Autumn sunshine. It proved to be a little too close for 100 National driver Paul Steady in race 9, when an unfortunate accident led to him being taken to hospital with a broken collar bone. The incident was handled quickly and efficiently by the medical team and the marshals under the control of new chief marshal Jane Knights.  We all wish Paul a very speedy recovery and hope to see him again soon.

CADET
The cadet heats and final as usual lived up to expectation, with Rupert Svendson-Cook (Honda Cadet) dominating the field to take 1^st  place in each race.  1^st  place in the Comer cadets was Krishan Padhiar, followed home in 2^nd place by Nicholas Wones, with Thomas Fitzpatrick 1^st  restricted in 3^rd  place overall.

JUNIOR TKM
Christopher Pengelly led from start to finish in the Junior TKM final, opening up a narrow lead to take the chequered flag ahead of Glenn Freeman and Matt Drew 1^st restricted in a great 3^rd place. Ashley Ruggles was 2^nd restricted in 7^th  place overall while Paul Moden was 3^rd restricted in 8^th  place.

JUNIOR TKM INTERMEDIATE
After 3 good drives in the heats, Joe Scorey led from start to finish in the Junior TKM Intermediate final, finishing just ahead of Chris Lock driving with his 2002 No.9 plate, with James Blyth in 3^rd place. 1^st restricted in 5^th place overall was Ben Tyler.  

SENIOR TKM
Nathan Roberts had a loan drive off the back of the Rotax grid for the Senior TKM trophy.

ROTAX MAX
With 19 karts in the Rotax Max final, it promised to be a hard fought race. After several changes of leader and 6 kart pile-up at the chicane, Damian Murray took the victory, narrowly ahead of Gordon Chennery in 2^nd place with Kevin Bishop in 3^rd. 1^st restricted in 8^th place overall was David Adams from Alan Fever.
