CLUB MEETING 27th August 2001

CADET
The Cadet final quickly emerged as a 3-way battle with Danny Fiske, Krishan Padhiar and Craig Boyd all pulling away from the field. Fiske led all the way to lap 11 when Boyd made a move to the front and tried to break away, Fiske however held on and retook the lead on the following lap and didn't lose it again on the way to the chequered flag. Padhiar then sneaked past Boyd on the last lap for 2nd, Boyd holding onto 3rd, Nick Wones 4th, Jordon Kendal 5th and Elliot Hill rounding out the top 6. Chris Barnett was 1st restricted in 9th place with Paul Reeves 2nd restricted in 10th.

JUNIOR TKM
After taking 2 heat wins Chris Pengelly once again showed he was in supreme form leading the final from lights to flag and although Dean Hill tried his hardest he just could not manage to challenge him and had to settle for 2nd, Paul Moden came 3rd, Tommy Eustance 4th (1st restricted), Jay Carpmale 5th (2nd restricted) and J Bardwell 6th.

JUNIOR INTERMEDIATES, JUNIOR MAX & JICA
The first corner played its part in this final as championship leader Chris Lock tangled with 3 other karts, Ruth Senior who had driven excellently all day took full advantage of this to pull away for a very well deserved win. Shaun Lehan held on for 2nd, Dan Bramham 3rd (1st restricted), Sarah Freeman 4th (2nd restricted), Chris Lock 5th and Reece Broady 6th. Lester Gaunt won the JICA and Niraj Gorshia won the Junior Rotax.

ROTAX MAX
After a big crash in the final heat involving around 10 karts a much battered group took to the grid for the final, this was not an incident free race as Paul Steady jumped the start and although holding off the close attentions of Stuart Weavers was docked a place leaving Weavers with an unexpected win, Steady took 2nd, Paul Warrener 3rd, Craig Turner 4th (1st restricted), Jason Fowler 5th and Gavin Petty rounding out the top 6. Mark Angold in 9th place, Paul Adams 2nd restricted in 10th and Mark Bowen 3rd restricted in 11th.    

FORMULA 6
Unfortunately James Loomes couldn't take to the grid for the final after being caught up in the crash in the final Rotax heat so it was left up to Mike Loomes and Mark Lawrence to battle it out, a battle that Lawrence would eventually win.

100 NATIONAL & SENIOR TKM
In the 100 National, Dannie Pennell jumped straight into the lead with James Clutten in hot pursuit but on lap 3 seized his engine leaving Clutten to take the win. The TKMs were led away by Lloyd Scriven who eased away from Richard Sewell to take a comfortable win, Sewell held onto 2nd (1st restricted), Andrew Aguda 3rd (2nd restricted), and Nathan Roberts 4th (3rd restricted).

GEARBOX
Greg Tripp (125 open) showed that his good form was continuing as he held off Richard Weavers (125 open) to take a very well deserved victory, all race Weavers would catch Tripp but then make a mistake and lose ground on him again. Weavers did hold onto a comfortable 2nd place though from brother Jonathon Weavers 3rd (1st 125 national) and Howard Bennett 4th (125 open).
