CLUB MEETING 27th JULY 2002

CADET

Craig Boyd made the best start from pole with Kieran Smith tucking in behind in 2nd. On lap 4 Smith made his move and got passed into the lead, which he held on to all the way to the chequered flag. Boyd tried hard to retake the lead but had to settle for 2nd with Luke Branch 3rd, Bill Albone 4th, Nick Wones 5th and Ben Sampson 6th. Oliver Hodgson was 1st restricted in 7th, Craig day 2nd restricted in 10th and Charlotte Wones in her first race meeting came in 11th place (3rd restricted). In the Honda Cadets Conner Summers had a comfortable victory ahead of William Simpson in 2nd. Alex Widdrington took the win in the WTP Cadets ahead of Nicholas Lucas 2nd.

JUNIOR TKM

An excellent start from Jamie Bardwell saw him lead the first lap although he lost that lead on lap 2 to Ashley Ruggles and came under severe pressure from Craig Bell. On lap 5 disaster struck for Bardwell as he spun off after contact with Dean Hill, he restarted but a long way back and could only manage to claw his way back to 9th place. This left Ruggles well clear and he made no mistakes taking the win by 2 seconds from Bell with Peter Hargreaves 3rd, Dean Hill 4th, Benjamin Firbank 5th and Miles Crowther 1st restricted in 6th place. 2nd restricted went to Tristam Macro in 8th and 3rd restricted was Oliver Thorpe in 11th. Aston Baker starting at the back in his MiniMax drove well to take the class win.

JUNIOR TKM INTERMEDIATE, JICA & JUNIOR ROTAX

After winning all 3 heats Ruth Senior started the final as firm favourite, although on the first corner her hopes were dashed as she had a coming together with Ben Conner leaving her last and a long way adrift.  James Blyth took full advantage to pull clear of the field and take a comfortable victory, Senior managed to drive her way back up to 2nd with Daniel Laddiman 3rd, Reece Broady 4th and Ben Conner 5th. The lone JICA of Domonic Thorpe started at the front and had no problems pulling away from the intermediates for the win. The Rotax started at the back but Rory Brodie managed to first catch and pass all the intermediates to take a fine win, Robin Shute came 2nd and Penni Stanton 3rd.

SENIOR ROTAX & OPEN

The Rotax saw Jason Baker in outstanding form, after taking 2 heat wins he jumped straight into the lead in the final with Gordon Chennery and Julian Warner in hot pursuit. Try as they may they couldn't quite stay in touch with Baker as he raced away to take the chequered flag. Chennery held on for 2nd, Warner 3rd, Gavin Petty 4th, Kevin Bishop 5th and Mark Bowen 6th. 1st restricted went to Brian Tarr in 13th.

SENIOR TKM

In his first meeting of the season James Clutten took pole for the final but on lap 2 had a coming together with Jason Thurlow leaving him restarting in last place. Lap 3 saw Nino Piccoli spin himself out while challenging for the lead, he restarted near the back. This left John Roberts in the lead ahead of Ben Tyler. Piccoli was flying now and with 2 laps left caught the leaders and took no time in passing both of them before pulling out a small lead for the win. John Roberts held off the late challenge of Tyler (3rd) to take 2nd, Clutten managing to get passed Andrew Aguda (5th) for 4th
