CLUB MEETING 26th October 2002

CADET

From the green light in the Cadet final at Ellough on 26th October, Nicholas Wones, Kieran Smith & Billy Albone pulled away from the chasing pack, Nicholas leading for the first few laps until Kieran Smith powered past on an infield corner. Kieran Smith keeping the lead to take the chequered flag. Nicholas Wones in 2nd holding off Billy Albone in 3rd. 4th spot went to Oliver Hodgson. Samuel Blake was in 10th place and 1st restricted with Charlotte Wones in 12th place and 2nd restricted. Winner of the Honda cadet class was Ben Sampson with James Brown taking 1st place in the WTP class.

JUNIOR TKM / MINIMAX

A grid of 14 Junior TKM’s & 2 Minimax’s started this final. After a hard fought race, Dean Hill crossed the line to take 1st place, with Matt Skilton in 2nd & Jordan Kendal in 3rd. Daniel Fiske was in 4th with Ashley Ruggles taking 5th spot. 1st restricted and 8th place went to Daniel Bishop with Emma Thackery as 2nd restricted. In the Minimax class, Rupert Svendson-Cook took the win over James Brown in 2nd.

JUNIOR TKM INTERMEDIATE / JUNIOR ROTAX / JICA / YAMAHA

The combined field of 4 classes was led away from the lights by the junior Rotax class, Rory Brodie, Robin Shute and Clark Randall opening out a lead from the chasing pack. Clark Randall eventually getting past to take the flag, followed home in 2nd place by Rory Brodie with Robin Shute in 3rd place. Penni Stanton was in 4th spot, just ahead of Daniel Thackery in 5th. Luke Wilson, the marshal’s choice for driver of the day, was in 6th place, followed home by Jack Piper in 7th. Gary Findley took the win in the JICA class with Matt Sampson claiming 1st place in the junior Yamaha class. In the junior TKM intermediate class, Ruth Senior leading from start to finish, took 1st place, ahead of Reece Broady in 2nd, followed by Ben Conner in 3rd with Daniel Ladiman in 4th place.

SENIOR ROTAX

The sixteen kart final saw Jason Baker and Gordon Chenery, pull out a few metres ahead of Adam Baker and Kevin Bishop in their final race of the day. Bishop, trying to take 3rd place, stalled his motor after a minor collision with Adam Baker, allowing the rest of the field to charge through.  Jason Baker, with his sliding through the corners style of racing, always seemed to have the edge over Gordon and kept the lead to take the win. Gordon Chenery taking a good 2nd place. Gavin Petty, having started in 10th place on the grid, caught up to Adam Baker and passed him on the last hairpin, to take 3rd, leaving Adam to curse his luck in 4th place. David Adams came home in 5th place with Wayne Close in 6th spot.

SENIOR TKM

After a collision on the first corner, Jason Thurlow and Nathan Roberts were the only karts left in the race. Jason Thurlow, pulling out a comfortable lead to take the win, with Nathan Roberts in 2nd.

125 GEARBOX

Jonathon Weavers took an early lead ahead of brother Richard and Greg Tripp. On lap 4, Richard took the lead and opened out a commanding lead, which he held all the way to the flag. Jonathon Weavers finishing in 2nd place just ahead of Greg Tripp in 3rd place.
