BECCLES & DISTRICT KART CLUB
CLUB MEETING 26th July 2003
The fifth round of the 2003 summer championships was held at Ellough on 26th July.
COMER CADET / HONDA CADET / WTP CADET
Fourteen cadet karts, consisting of Comer, Honda & WTPs started the final series of races. The Comer cadets led away from the lights by pole sitter Alex Widdrington, closely followed by Oliver Hodgson and Andrew Moore. Sam Blake and Craig Pollard leading the rest of the pack. On lap six, Sam had caught up and passed Andrew and began to catch Oliver. Half way through the race, Alex appeared to lose concentration and the ten metre gap he had over the others began to disappear. Alex quickly settled down again and held the lead to take a well deserved win. Oliver Hodgson kept to the racing lines to come home in 2nd place ahead of Sam Blake in 3rd. Andrew Moore finishing in 4th with Craig Pollard in 5th. Simon Harris claimed the 1st restricted trophy. The marshals Driver of the Day trophy was won by Charlotte Wones for the way she controlled the warm up lap on her first time in pole position in a heat.
Daniel Rodgers in a Honda cadet kart worked his way through the Comer karts to win the class.
James Brown and Thomas Stanway in WTP cadet karts, changed positions throughout the race with James taking the lead on lap twelve and holding on to take the chequered flag. Thomas coming home in 2nd place.

Ten karts started the Junior TKM final with Jamie Bardwell taking the lead from the lights. Ashley Ruggles and Jordan Kendal battling for second place. Ashley closed up to Jamie and passed him on lap five. Growing in confidence, Ashley soon opened out a five metre lead, which he maintained to take the flag. Jamie Bardwell finishing in 2nd place just ahead of Jordan Kendal in 3rd. An excellent drive from Scott Day saw him finish in 4th place. Tom Cluley finishing as 1st restricted driver.
JUNIOR TKM INTERMEDIATE
The Junior Intermediate TKM final saw four drivers led away from the green light by pole man Benjamin Firbank. After some fast, close racing, Tommy Eustace overtook Ben Conner for second place with Elliot Lees dropping back in fourth place. JUNIOR ROTAX
The junior Rotax final was contested by eight karts, led away from the lights by Matt Skilton, closely followed by Ashley Beales and Michael Groves. Nicholas, once again drove consistently for the whole of the race and took the chequered flag. Daniel Laddiman coming home in 2nd place, just ahead of Ben Sampson in 3rd. Luke Branch taking the 4th position.
SENIOR ROTAX MAX / SENIOR TKM 4 STROKE

At the end of the lap, Julian had overtaken Gavin for the lead and Kevin Bishop had moved up to third and James Lemmon through into fourth. A collision between the front runners on lap four saw James Lemmon out in front, closely followed by Gavin Petty and Gordon Chenery. James stayed in front until lap ten before Gavin overtook him down the start straight. He kept his head down for the remaining few laps to claim a well deserved win. James Lemmon keeping ahead of Gordon for the 2nd spot. Gordon coming home in 3rd with Brian Lely in 4th.
