CLUB MEETING 25th January 2003

CADET

For the first eleven laps of the Cadet final at Ellough on 25th January, three drivers, Oliver Hodgson, Billy Albone and Nicholas Wones, fought for the lead. Unfortunately, Oliver tangled with a back marker at the chicane and spun out, handing the victory to Nicholas Wones, followed home in 2nd place by Billy Albone. Andrew Moore, in 3rd overall and 1st restricted, keeping just ahead of Sam Blake in 4th spot, Jake Wenham coming home in 5th place. Craig Pollard took 2nd restricted, closely followed by Charlotte Wones in 3rd restricted.

In the Honda cadet class, after some close racing, 1st place went to Bradley Smith, fighting off Daniel Fisher in 2nd place. The WTP Cadet class saw Toby Rogers battling through the field to claim 1st place, James Buckingham in 2nd with James Brown in 3rd.   

JUNIOR TKM / MINI-MAX

A grid of 15 karts started the final of Junior TKMs & Mini-max. Rupert Svendson-Cook with three heat wins in the Mini-max class, led from start to finish to take the win. Daniel Laddiman having his first race in the Mini-max class, finished in 2nd spot, closely followed by Luke Branch in 3rd.  In the Junior TKM class, Jamie Bardwell, taking the chequered flag, was pushed all the way by Matt Skilton in 2nd place. Ashley Ruggles following up for 3rd spot with Daniel Bishop taking the 1st restricted position.

JUNIOR TKM INTERMEDIATE / JUNIOR ROTAX

Rory Brodie had a comfortable win in the Junior Rotax class, working hard to gain a 50 metre lead over the rest of the field after a few laps, which he held all the way to the flag.  Robin Shute holding on to 2nd place ahead of Michael Groves in 3rd.  Penni Stanton coming home in 4th spot.  In the Junior TKM Intermediate class, Adam Blackmore worked hard to take the win just ahead of Ben Conner in 2nd place. Tom Brown in 3rd position with Elliot Lees in 4th.

SENIOR ROTAX / SENIOR TKM 4 STROKE

Kevin Bishop, winner of all three heats, led the 12-kart field on the warm up lap, only for Gordon Chenery to pull in front by the first corner of the first lap. Gordon and Kevin then began to pull out a few metres ahead of the chasing group of Gavin Petty, Gavin Jones and Paul Canning. By lap 11, Gavin Petty had dropped away from the leading pair, with Jason Baker now in 5th place. Lap 12 saw Kevin Bishop slip past Gordon and open out a small lead, which he kept to the finish flag. Gordon Chenery held on to 2nd place, with Jason Baker coming through in 3rd.  In 4th spot was Gavin Jones and James Lemmon working hard for his 5th place. 1st restricted position going to Paul Canning. The 4 stroke TKMs performed very well in the cold and damp conditions with Jason Fowler taking the win over Wayne Close in 2nd.
