BECCLES & DISTRICT KART CLUB
CLUB MEETING 22nd October 2005
The seventh round of the 2005 Summer championships was held at Ellough on 22nd October.
COMER / WTP CADET
Sam Blake started in pole position after three wins in the heats, Oliver Hindle completing the front row. With everybody safely round the first corner, Sam and Oliver quickly opened a gap to third place driver Jake Wenham. Teddie Harvey settled down in fourth with Jordan Harber and James Harris battling over fifth place. Michael Headland made the best progress in the early laps, down in seventh position at the end of lap one, to fourth on lap five. Oliver sat behind Sam for eight laps before getting past to go in to the lead on lap eight. Sam didn’t give up, regained his composure and retook the lead on lap thirteen. Consistent driving from Jake kept him in the hunt for second, but clear enough of Michael in fourth. At the flag, a well deserved win for Sam Blake, ahead of Oliver Hindle in 2nd. Coming home in 3rd was Jake Wenham followed by Michael Headland in 4th. Teddie Harvey in 5th place, with Craig Pollard 6th. Kirsy Harris collecting the 1st restricted driver trophy.
HONDA CADET
A profitable day for Toby Reynolds, three heat wins and first place in the final giving maximum points for the championship. Lewis Bond finishing just behind in 2nd, getting the better of Kieron Baker in 3rd. Louise Ashton coming home in 4th.
MINI-MAX
Alex Widdrington, another triple heat winner started on pole with Nicholas Wones making up the front row. Andrew Moore getting the better of Nicholas coming out of the first bend with Tom Griffiths just behind in fourth. Alex soon showed the benefits of driving in the Super 1 series, quickly opening out a comfortable lead over the chasing group. Nicholas slipped past Andrew on lap three for second, dropping Andrew in to a battle with Tom for third place. Credit due to Andrew, he kept Tom at bay until lap eleven, Tom making a good, clean pass down the start straight for third position. An incident on the final lap saw Tom off the track, Simon Harris making the most of the situation moving up three places to fifth. At the finish flag, an easy win for Alex Widdrington over Nicholas Wones in 2nd. Although finishing in 3rd place, Andrew Moore was excluded from the result due to a protest in one of the heats. Karl Cocca was therefore promoted to 3rd. Simon Harris coming home in 4th with James Brown in 5th. George Foster finishing as 1st restricted driver in 6th place overall. Tom Griffiths received the marshal’s driver of the day trophy for his overtaking skills demonstrated through the day.
JUNIOR TKM
Lee Waters took the win over Daniel Bishop in 2nd place.
JUNIOR ROTAX MAX
A very busy day for Nicholas Wones, driving in the Mini-max and Junior max class, stepping straight out of his mini-max kart and in to pole position in the next race. Daniel Fisher starting in second position on the grid. Coming out of the first corner, Jack Piper with a better line moved past Daniel in to second place. Excellent driving from Jack for the next eleven laps kept Daniel in third with Peter Masters in fourth. Nicholas by this time had opened out a twenty metre lead and was not going to be caught. Lap thirteen and Jack gifted second place to Daniel by going on to the grass at the exit of the double apex corner, taking a minute to restart his kart. Peter also moving up a position to third. At the chequered flag, a win for Nicholas Wones ahead of Daniel Fisher in 2nd. Peter Masters in 3rd place with James Harber in 4th overall and as 1st restricted driver. Luke Branch finishing in 5th just ahead of Jack Piper in 6th.
SENIOR ROTAX MAX
A first and two second places in the heats placed Gordon Chenery on pole position, Jamie Bardwell starting in second with Ashley Beales in third. Championship leader Ray Lincoln forced wide at the first bend rejoined the race in last place. Gordon and Jamie soon established a gap to Ashley with a similar gap to Leyton Nisbett. Patrick Millar slipped past Leyton on lap three for fourth, chasing Ashley about ten metres ahead. It took eight laps for Patrick to catch and pass Ashley for third spot but two laps later was shown the black flag for being too forceful with some of his moves. At the chequered flag a win for Gordon Chenery ahead of Jamie Bardwell in 2nd. Ashley Beales in 3rd with Leyton Nisbett in 4th. Jason Beck in 5th overall and as the 1st restricted driver. Trevor Gowling finishing in 6th.
SENIOR ROTAX MAX 177
Cavin Doyle led off the Rotax 177 final as a result of two wins and a third place in the heats. Wayne Vickery starting from second with Mel Cooke in third. Cavin retained the lead out of the first corner closely followed by Mel and Wayne. Contact between Mel and Cavin approaching the double apex corner resulted in Cavin going off the track in to the tyre wall allowing Wayne through in to first place, Mel on his bumper in second. Next corner and Wayne goes off the track, allowing Mark Bowen and Steven Everitt to take advantage of the situation, both slipping past Mel to claim the leading positions. Both Wayne and Cavin rejoined the race but well down the field. Mel received a black flag at the end of lap three for his part in the earlier incidents. Mark was pushed all the way by Steven for the first half of the race, Brian Jones taking up the challenge in second spot from lap eight onwards. Wayne recovered well, working his way up to fourth by the end of the race. At the flag, a win for Mark Bowen, finishing ahead of Brian Jones in 2nd. Steve Everitt coming home in 3rd with Wayne Vickery in 4th position. Ian Harvey in 5th with Pip Lawn in 6th.
