COMER CADET / HONDA CADET / WTP CADET

There were fifteen karts contesting three classes in the Cadet finals at Ellough on 22nd March. In the Comer cadet class, Alex Widdrington, with a first and two seconds in the heats, started the race in pole position ahead of Oliver Hodges and Nicholas Wones. The leading group increasing their lead over the main pack after the first lap. Nicholas slipping past Oliver by lap 2 and by Alex in lap three. Alex eventually retiring on lap six with mechanical problems. Nicholas, maintaining his lead took the win with Oliver Hodgson in 2nd place, closely followed by Sam Blake in 3rd position. Charlotte Wones, gaining more confidence with every race, coming home in 4th place overall and 1st restricted. Craig Pollard finishing in 5th place overall and 2nd restricted.

The Honda cadet class was won by Daniel Rogers, successfully defending against the challenge from 2nd place driver Daniel Fisher. Bradley Smith coming home in 3rd.

The WTP cadet class consisted entirely of restricted drivers. James Buckingham receiving the chequered flag ahead of James Brown. Oliver Hindle pushing hard for his 3rd place.

JUNIOR TKM / MINIMAX

Rupert Svendson-Cook led the field away from the green light in the Mini-Max class. Oliver Walker and Daniel Laddiman staying with Rupert to provide some good, clean racing. On lap nine, Oliver and Daniel both passed Rupert to fight for the lead. Oliver Walker held on to the lead to take the win with Daniel Laddiman in 2nd place. Ben Sampson coming through the field to claim 3rd spot.

Matt Skilton, starting from pole position in the Junior TKM final, controlled the race from the green light to the finish flag. The chasing group of Benjamin Firbank, Jamie Bardwell and Miles Crowther, all working with each other to close the gap. Some excellent overtaking manoeuvres saw Miles Crowther get past Jamie and Benjamin to claim 2nd place. Jamie Bardwell finishing in 3rd spot with Ashley Ruggles taking 4th position.

JUNIOR TKM INTERMEDIATE / JUNIOR ROTAX

The Junior Rotax Max class at Ellough is now starting to rival the senior Rotax class in popularity and racing skills with every meeting. Eight junior rotax max karts started the final, Michael Groves immediately pulling into the lead, closely followed by Reece Broady and Rory Broadie. After some extremely close and exciting racing, Rory Broady took the chequered flag in 1st place, followed home in 2nd place by Michael Groves. Reece Broady finishing in 3rd place with Robin Shute in 4th.

The Junior Intermediate TKM final provided another comfortable win for Adam Blackmore. Driving competently from start to finish, Adam ended the day as the only driver with three heat wins and a final win. Tom Brown finishing in 2nd place with Ben Connor coming through in 3rd spot. Tommy Eustace chasing hard finishing in 4th place.

SENIOR TKM 4 STROKE

The senior TKM 4 stroke final showed that racing is always improved if family rivalry is included in the equation. Throughout the day, the senior TKM group of father John and sons Wayne and Lee, battled with each other to find the top racer. In the final however, Wayne Close, pulled out a significant lead, only for his chain to snap on lap six. John Close taking over the lead for two laps only to see son Lee slide by on an infield corner. Keeping to the racing lines, Lee held on to claim a win. John Close two kart lengths behind in 2nd place.

SENIOR ROTAX MAX

Fourteen karts started the senior Rotax final. From the lights Jason Baker and Gordon Chenery opened out a ten metre lead over the chasing pack of Kevin Bishop, Nick Phipps and Gavin Petty. As the race continued, Jason and Gordon stayed bumper to bumper for lap after lap, but at the flag Gordon had no answer and had to settle for 2nd place behind Jason Baker.  Kevin Bishop had created a slight gap to claim 3rd spot ahead of fourth place driver Gavin Petty.  Gavin Petty getting some consolation in setting the fastest lap time in a Rotax during the final.  Nick Phipps finishing in 5th place with James Lemmon in 6th.  The restricted trophy going to William Smith.
