CLUB MEETING 20th January 2002

CADET

Current club champion Nick Wones started the winter series where he finished the summer series, by taking the win in the Cadets. He had a pretty easy run to the flag leading all the way. The battle for 2nd was a lot harder fought with Jack Delaney and Craig Boyd fighting wheel to wheel the whole race, Boyd however managed to get ahead 2 corners from home to take 2nd, Delaney had to settle for 3rd ahead of Thomas Fitzpatrick 4th, Toby Rogers 5th and Alex Widdrington (1st restricted) in 6th.

HONDA CADET

The Honda Cadets ran off the front of the Cadet grid and it was Bradley Smith who drove excellently all day to take 3 heat wins and the final win by a very comfortable margin ahead of Rhys Jenkins.

JUNIOR TKM

This was a very evenly matched class with 3 different heat winners although after a brief tussle at the start Garry Findlay pulled away from the pack to take the win. Matt Drew, Tommy Eustace and William Reed all battled very hard for 2nd but in the end it was Eustace who held on, Drew kept Reed at bay for 3rd with Reed 4th, Ashley Ruggles (1st restricted) 5th and Ben Conner 6th.

JUNIOR TKM INTERMEDIATES & ROTAX

Niraj Gorshia in his Rotax soon gained a good lead over the Intermediates of Ruth Senior and Reece Broady and although they tried to reduce it, it wasn't to be as he raced clear to take the flag, Senior held onto 1st in the Intermediates with Broady 2nd.

ROTAX MAX

After having problems on the dummy grid and almost not starting when his battery went flat Gordon Chennery made no mistake in the race as he opened up a huge lead before the rain came and and caused chaos. With karts spinning left right and centre Chennery kept up his relentless pace to win by well over half a lap from Wayne Close who showed how good he is in the wet. After being dead last on the first lap after a spin Jason Baker came right through the field for a very fine 3rd place with Craig Turner 4th, David Adams (1st restricted) 5th and Daniel Butcher rounding out the top 6.

SENIOR TKM & FORMULA 6

James Loomes, Mike Loomes and Mark Lawrence had a close scrap in the Formula 6 in the heavy rain and it was James Loomes who came out on top with Lawrence 2nd. The TKM was also a close race, which saw Andrew Aguda just edging out Nathan Roberts to take the win.
