CLUB MEETING 3rd JUNE 2002

CADET

From the first lap it was quite evident that this was going to be a 2 horse race as Craig Boyd and Nick Wones began to pull out a lead over the chasing pack. Although there was never more than a couple of kart lengths between them Wones never quite had the speed to make a challenge and had to settle for 2nd. After a serious looking accident in the heats Jack Delaney drove a magnificent race coming up through the field for 3rd, Kieran Smith took 4th, Thomas Fitzpatrick 5th and Alex Widdrington rounded out the top 6. 1st restricted went to Oliver Hodgson in 10th, 2nd was Ben Sampson in 12th and 3rd was Craig Day in 14th. Nicholas Lucas came 1st in the WTP Cadet.

JUNIOR TKM

This final was always going to be a close affair and it didn't disappoint as the first 4 drivers were nose to tail for the first 12 laps until leader Dean Hill tangled with a back marker depriving him of what would have been a great victory. This left Danny Fiske in the lead but on the final lap he also tangled with a back marker putting him out of the race, leaving Matt Skilton to take an unexpected win. Peter Hargreaves also took advantage to come home 2nd, Dean hill 3rd, William Reed 4th, Tommy Eustace 5th and Jamie Bardwell 6th (1st restricted).

JUNIOR INTERMEDIATE & JUNIOR ROTAX

The Rotax started at the front of the grid and it was Clarke Randall who drove away for an easy victory ahead of Rory Brodie 2nd (1st restricted) and Robin Shute 3rd (2nd restricted). In the Intermediates Ruth Senior had a very comfortable drive winning by the length of the straight and being the only kart not lapped by the Rotax. James Blyth came through the field from last on the grid for a fine 2nd with Ben Conner 3rd, Adam Blackmore 4th (1st restricted), Daniel Laddiman 5th (2nd restricted) and Reece Broady 6th.

SENIOR ROTAX & OPEN

After blowing up the engine on his Biland powered kart this meeting saw the return of Kevin Bishop in the Rotax class on a new LGK chassis. Not only did he take pole for the final but he drove a flawless race to take the win keeping the flying Jason Baker in 2nd and David Adams 3rd. Joe Scorey in his first meeting as a senior had driven a superb race in 4th but with 1 lap to go tried a little too hard to catch Adams and crashed out leaving David Lock to take 4th, Simon Smart 5th (1st restricted) and Julian Warner 6th. Mark Bowen was 2nd restricted in 11th with Brian Tarr 3rd restricted in 13th.

SENIOR TKM

Ben Tyler had a lights to flag victory in the Senior TKM pulling out a comfortable gap over the battling trio of Jason Thurlow 2nd (1st restricted), Nathan Roberts 3rd, Dan Bramham 4th. 5th went to John Roberts (2nd restricted) with Andrew Aguda well adrift in 6th.

GEARBOX

Richard Weavers is proving that the power of the new CRK engine is going to be a force to be reckoned with in the future after going away from the field for a very comfortable victory. David Stephen Drove a good race in 2nd but had no answer to the sheer speed of Weavers. After hurting his ribs in the heats Jonathon Weavers persevered in the final and came home 3rd, Martyn Baker making a return after a couple of years out in his 250 International finished 4th.
